Brian Harper, Chairman of SEC Industrial Battery Company, SEC has been involved with the engineering and development of lead acid batteries for over 30 years.
He marketed Exide flooded batteries in the late 70’s and GNB, USA (now part of Exide Technologies) in the 80’s establishing the WorldWide marketing and selling the, then new, large valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) range of batteries, building up the SEC WorldWide distribution network.
"SEC was the first battery company in the World to introduce VRLA Catalysts for Monobloc batteries"
SEC was founded in 1977 to specialise in the supply and installation of solar electric power systems. Batteries were and still are a major part of solar systems. In 1983 the company changed its focus to concentrate on the supply, installation and service of large industrial batteries.
SEC was appointed the International Distribution Agent for a large American industrial battery company who until this point had made little impact in the International battery arena. SEC was instrumental in identifying and developing the global market for the new at that time, large sealed lead acid VRLA batteries. SEC went on to achieve a sales turnover of $20 million in 1989 which has been steadily growing ever since.
This highly successful strategy enabled SEC to open Sales Offices in key geographic locations:
- Middle East 1980
- London 1985
- Hong Kong 1989
- Philadelphia 1990
As the company grew, many affiliations were formed with agents and distributors worldwide. Today SEC has more than 45 distribution facilities/agents serving all continents.
SEC was the first battery company in the World to introduce VRLA Catalysts for Monobloc batteries. Making it a technology-leader in an industry where reputations rely on excellence in performance and reliability.
