Plug Power is developing High Temperature PEM fuel cell technology for the European micro CHP markets with a unique value add proposition for the gas utility, consumer and environment. Advantages of High Temperature PEM Technology

The system runs on natural gas which is internally reformed into hydrogen for the fuel cell. Our high temperature PEM system requires a lower purity of hydrogen reducing reformer size and system complexity when compared to traditional low temperature PEM systems
Onsite generation of heat and power (more efficient generation)
Efficiency remains constant over partial and full loads
Reduced NOx, SOx and particulates

Micro-CHP Experience

Plug Power, in conjunction with Vaillant-Hepworth, Long Island Power Authority (LIPA), and other partners and customers, has field-tested over 300 Combined Heat and Power (CHP) fuel cell systems. These extensive field tests have allowed Plug Power to demonstrate fundamental technologies needed for CHP fuel cell systems and have identified essential technology improvements needed to make a commercially viable product.
