Partnership of Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Explained

Washington, DC – Leaders from the hydrogen and renewable energy industries will gather in Golden, CO next week to examine the critical relationship between the two emerging technologies and how they will affect the world’s energy future.

The National Hydrogen Association will be holding its 2nd Hydrogen from Renewables Forum in Golden, CO, co-hosted by the National Renewable Energy Lab, September 22-24, 2008. Building on the 1st Forum held in Albuquerque in 2006, this event will take an in-depth look at the areas of resource use, public policy, infrastructure development, and commercialization strategy for the increased implementation of technologies that employ hydrogen produced from renewable energy. Additionally, specific attention will be paid to the projected use of renewable energy and how hydrogen can be used to catalyze current efforts to maximize effectiveness of those projects.

Over 30 speakers from across the country and around the world will present in five separate panel presentations and breakout workshops. Keynote speakers for the event include Dale Gardner, Renewable Fuels Science and Technology Director, National Renewable Energy Lab, Tim Taylor, Colorado Public Service Company CEO, and Mike Eckhart, American Council On Renewable Energy President. A special luncheon presentation will be given by H2Gen Innovations President Sandy Thomas on the future of our nation’s transportation portfolio and the business case for hydrogen.

All of the information presented will then be discussed by attendees in four breakout sessions on the final day of the event in order to help answer the question: what is the role of hydrogen in states that are focused on increasing their renewable energy infrastructure? These results will be used by the NHA Renewable Hydrogen Working Group for education and outreach in the coming months. To find out more about the Forum, please visit www.HydrogenForums.org.
