The cell development strategy at NanoDynamics Energy, Inc has focused on maximizing the available power per cell while maintaing operational stability. Optimization is achieved via both material and physical changes to the basic cell concept. Over the last four years the power output from a single cell has more than doubled each year.
- Generation 1 cell technology (Revolution™50H) demonstrated over 300 thermal cycles
- Performance observed to increase 6% over first 300 cycles
- Single cell testing demonstrated start up times under 20 seconds
- Gen 1 & Gen 2 technologies tested over 1000 hours with 0% degradation
- Gen 3 technology currently testing over 200 thermal cycles with no degradation

Innovations in cell design have led to improvements in stack power output and efficiency. Volumetric power density has also increased, enabling over 100W to be produced in a smaller package than the current stack utilized by the Revolution™ 50H. This modular stack design combined with internal reforming technology developed at NanoDynamics Energy has been used to demonstrate a stack producing over 200W operating on propane. This technology will be optimized and used as the basis for the Revolution ™ 250 unit currently under development.

The Revolution™ 50H Hybrid is the first microtubular SOFC developed by NanoDynamics Energy. The Revolution™ 50H possesses an extremely high power density and energy efficiency and has also demonstrated thermal shock tolerance and operational durability. |
