Effective May 8, 2006, Dr. Acker became an Advisor of MTI Micro. Dr. Acker has been a Director of MTI Micro since April 24, 2001 and effective May 8, 2006 was also appointed as Chair of the Board’s Technology Committee. Dr. Acker served as President of MTI Micro from April 24, 2001 to December 15, 2004 and Chief Executive Officer from April 24, 2001 to May 7, 2006. Before joining MTI Micro Dr. Acker was Vice President of Technology and Product Development at Plug Power, Inc. (Plug). Leading the development of the world's first residential PEM fuel cell system, he was instrumental in building Plug from a small R&D lab to the product development and manufacturing company it is today, augmenting its market capitalization from $18 million to over $1 billion in less than three years. Dr. Acker has also held high-level managerial and scientific positions at Texaco Fuel and Lubricants Technology, where he developed new fuels, testing techniques, and emission-improving fuel additives.
Dr. Acker received a Ph.D., an M.S. and an M. Phil in Applied Physics and Engineering, all from Yale University, where he was awarded a fellowship from IBM, and a B.S. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He has published more than 50 technical articles and is a name author of twelve of the company's patent applications. |
