Residential Fuel Cell |

Keesler Air Force Base, Bilox, MS
A 5kW Plug Power GenSys 5P fuel cell was installed at this site, at the residence of Lt. Col. T. Yang, CE Squadron Commander. The fuel cell was electronically configured to provide grid parallel/grid independent service and was also thermally integrated into the home's hot water system.
The fuel cell was commissioned in March of 2005 and operated for almost six months with an availability of 96% and an electrical efficiency of 25%. No thermal data was recovered in the process.
In August of 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the AFB and submerged the fuel cell in ten feet of water. Currently, the demonstration is halted until further notice. |
