SUMMARY
Manage the planning, control, and organization of activities that enable the value chain to manufacture products from Purchasing to Inventory Control. Coordinate with the execution branch of manufacturing to optimize operations, meet customer expectations and achieve corporate goals. Implement manufacturing strategy working closely with the Operations Manager. Accept P&L responsibility for the department and its activities. Inspire creativity and teamwork in others to achieve best-in-class results.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Exercise direct responsibility for the planning, organization, direction, and control of all activities associated with development of the production plan.
- Direct purchasing and inventory in the receipt, and inventory control of all materials and services needed by the facilities.
- Direct the development and implementation of inventory strategies.
- Ensure that inventory levels are optimized through financially sound replenishment decisions that optimize investment and customer service.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the procurement function.
- Inspire and maintain positive working relationships across functional boundaries.
- Lead continuous improvement, problem solving, and team building activities.
- Direct the development of area personnel including writing performance reviews, identifying training needs, delivering selected training, career counseling, and progressive discipline.

- Coordinate with the Execution Branch to meet cost, quality and schedule objectives.
- Accepts P&L responsibility for the department and its activities.
- Develops and implements lead-time and inventory reduction strategies.
- Cultivates long-term supplier relationships supporting organizational goals. Collaborates with academia, government, and other business to support IdaTech objectives.
- Performs administrative activities associated with compiling, storing and retrieving planning data.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in business or engineering or equivalent and at least ten years progressively responsible purchasing/negotiating/inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Solid track record of achieving above average cost savings,
- Understand and apply the APICS body of knowledge, APICS certification required.
- Create, analyze, and administer a budget.
- Appreciate and apply interpersonal communication techniques.
- Maximize the tenets of Demand flow, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodology.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Conduct organizational development.
