An appropriate hydrogen supply is needed to operate any fuel cell system. We offer diverse solutions for everything from hydrogen generation and storage to the supply of hydrogen for your application.
Depending on the surrounding conditions, there are various possibilities to supply your fuel cell with hydrogen.
Hydrogen generators of various power classes and compressed gas cylinders are available as hydrogen sources.
Frequently, intermediate storage of the hydrogen is necessary. We offer metal hydride storage canisters with various capacities or hydraulic accumulator systems for this purpose. For the connection to the hydrogen supply of your fuel cell system we offer prequalified standard components or individual and customized solutions.
To ensure safe handling of the hydrogen, a hydrogen safety package is also available.
Hydrogen Systems and Their Applications
Hydrogen Generation Through Electrolysis
Choosing the right electrolyzer depends on the output of the fuel cell system to be supplied and especially on the ratio of operating time to standby time.
We offer customized electrolysis systems for your individual requirements – from a few SL/h up to several Sm3/h. Ask us! We will be glad to assist you!
Product Series HG15 / 30 / 60
The hydrogen generators of the HG series are suitable for the safe and continuous generation of the hydrogen needed for diverse fuel cell applications. The HG hydrogen generators generate high-purity hydrogen through electrolysis of distilled water. The integrated gas treatment enables both the direct supply of fuel cell systems and filling of metal hydride storage canisters.
An optional interface card allows cascading of up to 10 units and control of the hydrogen generator via the PC software. With an additional extension the integrated water reservoir can be refilled automatically for continuous and self-sustaining operation.
Technical Data
- Hydrogen production: max. 15 | 30 | 60 SL/h
- Power consumption: max. 160 | 300 | 530 VA
- Hydrogen purity: 6.0 (99.9999 % vol.)
- Hydrogen pressure: 0.1…10.7 bar (1…155 psi g)

Hydrogen Storage
Due to the high volumetric energy density and the low storage pressure, metal hydride canisters are suitable for the efficient intermediate storage of hydrogen, both for stationary and mobile applications.
Hydraulic accumulators, on the other hand, feature higher gravimetric energy density (specific energy) and fast filling and emptying. In addition to the standard metal hydride storage canisters described below, individual stationary storage systems are available on request, either with metal hydride storage canisters or as a hydrogen accumulator system. Ask us! We will be glad to assist you!
Metal Hydride Storage Canister 60–760 SL Hydrogen
The low pressure, the high volumetric energy density and the different available storage capacities make the metal hydride storage canister suitable for the intermediate storage of hydrogen. These metal hydride storage canisters can be used in compact portable or mobile systems with limited storage space or in efficient stationary systems for low-pressure hydrogen storage.
The individual canisters are available in three sizes and can be cascaded depending on the storage requirements.
The canisters can be filled with hydrogen using a hydrogen generator of the HG series or the charging set for metal hydride canisters (in this case, an additional special compressed gas cylinder is needed).
Technical Data
- Storage capacity (at charge pressure of 17 bar): 60 | 250 | 760 SL
- Output: 1.4 | 3.5 | 7 SL/min
- Weight: 0.8 | 2.2 | 7 kg
- Charge pressure: 10… 17 bar
- Charge time: ca. 1 h at 20 °C and active cooling

Hydrogen Accessories and Safety
Charging Set for Metal Hydride Storage Canisters
The charging set for metal hydride storage canisters is used for the fast and safe refilling of metal hydride storage canisters from standard compressed gas cylinders. The set consists of a single-stage, adjustable cylinder pressure reducer and a quick-release connecting hose.
Technical Data
- Inlet pressure: max. 200 bar
- Outlet pressure: 1… 15 bar
Pressure Reducer and Connecting Elements
For connecting a hydrogen canister to a fuel system, you need special connecting elements and a pressure reducer for adapting the hydrogen pressure. We offer pressure reducers with the required connecting elements for the respective hydrogen storage system and fuel cell system.
Hydrogen Safety Package
The hydrogen safety package consists of a hydrogen sensor and a special non-corrosive leak test liquid.
The hydrogen sensor is used for flexible room monitoring and for leak testing. The sensor is equipped with various acoustical and optical alarm levels and with a display for determining the current concentration.
The leak test liquid allows you to easily visualize leaks.
Technical Data
- Sensor type: hydrogen 4 %
- Measuring principle: 3-electrode sensor
- Standard range: 0.00…4.00 %
