The flexible modular design of this robust, modular fuel cell system solution with a fuel cell output of 50 W facilitates integration in your application with a high degree of flexibility in the overall system design.
The Fuel Cell System
- Rated voltage: 5.0 VDC
- Rated current: 8.0 A
- Rated output: 40 W
- Maximum current: 10 A
- Maximum output: 50 W
- No-load voltage: 9.0 VDC
- Hydrogen purity: 99.999 % H2 (vol)
- Input pressure: 0.4…0.8 bar
- Hydrogen consumption: max. 700 SmL/min (at 0 °C / 32 °F, 1013 bar)
The fuel cell system consists of a stack assembly and a controller board. In addition to the fuel cell stack, the stack assembly also includes a fan for the oxygen supply and cooling, solenoid valves for the hydrogen input and output, a temperature sensor and taps for monitoring the cell voltage. The control and power connections to the controller board are established by a multiple connector.
The controller board ensures reliable operation and protects the system from overloads and short circuits. The integrated RS232 interface enables visualization and processing of important operating parameters via the included software.
For operation of the system, you need hydrogen and an external 12 V power supply or the hybridization module.

The Integration Accessories
Hybride Extension Module
Adapted to the Constructor fuel cell system, this supplementary set enables the construction of a fuel cell hybrid system. The DC converter with an integrated load regulator delivers a rated voltage of 12 V and is specially designed for the voltage and output level of the fuel cell system. The connection of 12 V consumers is therefore fast and easy
Technical Data
- Input voltage: 4.5…10 VDC
- Input current: max. 10 A
- Rated output voltage: 12 VDC
- Cut-off voltage: 14.3 V
- Output: max. 50 W
- Battery type: lead-acid rechargeable battery
- Battery voltage: 12 V
- Battery capacity: 0.8 Ah
Pressure Reducer for Metal Hydride Storage Canisters
The pressure reducer for metal hydride storage canisters securely connects the metal hydride storage canister to the Constructor fuel cell system. The storage pressure, which is dependent on the state of charge and the temperature, is reduced to the required pressure.
Technical Data
- Inlet pressure: 1…15 bar
- Outlet pressure: 0.6 ± 0.2 bar
Hydrogen Flow Meter
The hydrogen flow meter enables the exact measurement of the current hydrogen consumption. The data connection is established via the controller board and the measured values are displayed via the software included with the fuel cell system.
Technical Data
- Measuring range: 10…1,000 SmL/min (at 0 °C / 32 °F, 1013 bar)
- Precision: ± 0.8 % of measured value plus ± 0.2 % of full-scale value
Versions for supply of the system with hydrogen can be found under Hydrogen Generation and Storage or feel free to contact us. We will be glad to find the optimum solution for you.
