HP600

If you want to understand the overall efficiency of a fuel cell system, the HP 600 is just for you. Because this learning system does not dissipate its waste heat out of the fuel cell via a fan; instead, it has its own water cooling system, which makes it possible, via the adjustable operating temperature, to analyze not only the power generation, but also the thermal economy of the fuel cell.

The HP 600, with its water cooling system and 600 W output, is already a full-blown fuel cell system. Yet it is still a manageable system. All of the components are clearly arranged on a wall panel. This makes experimenting more fun – and achieves very fast learning results. In addition to the basic principles of fuel cell technology, this robust system also demonstrates the special relationships between the generation of power and waste heat. The learning system allows students to examine the parameters affecting a fuel cell as used in combined heat and power systems.

In addition to the fuel cell system, the HP 600 includes a DC converter with a load regulator and battery, in addition to an inverter, for a complete fuel cell hybrid system.

Is that still not enough for you? Not for us, either. That is why the HP 600 generates not only power, but also data. Readings which record the complex experimental set-ups and which students can analyze at home.

Of course, the HP 600 cannot compete with a large system that fills an entire room. Your students will see such systems in good time. That was not our goal. We wanted to create a portable learning system that is reliable and easy to set up. Convince yourself. You can roll the stable transport box wherever you need it.

Areas of Application / Subject Areas

The HP 600 is especially suitable for lab experiments with the goal of teaching application-related knowledge of hydrogen and fuel cells. Optimally, it is used for university practicums in the subjects of energy engineering, process engineering or electrical engineering; it can also be used as a starting point for more in-depth examinations of fuel cells.

Included in the package

The product is mounted firmly on a wall panel and is available optionally with or without electronic load. For the available versions, please refer to the product data sheet:

Data Sheet HP 600

  • Fuel Cell System Unit: 600 W PEM fuel cell with water cooling circuit and water/air heat exchanger. The hydrogen flow is controlled by a flow meter and is recycled through the fuel cell. The system is controlled and parameterized via a microcontroller.
  • Hydrogen Connection Set: Pressure reducer for compressed gas cylinders and hydrogen sensor and set for leak detection to ensure safe operation of the system.
  • Power Electronics Unit. DC converter and load regulator including start and back-up battery for supply of 12 V consumers and DC/AC converter for supply of 110V/220V AC consumers.
  • Documentation and Software: Detailed instruction manual and data recording software for visualization of numerous system parameters such as temperatures, volume flows, current, voltage and output.

Optional:

  • DC Electronic Load: Enables controlled loads to the fuel cell system. Programmable in constant current, power or resistance mode. Integration in the software.
