Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen visited H2 Logic as part of his environmental campaign around central Denmark. During the visit the Prime Minister embraced hydrogen and stated that it is needed to make Denmark independent of fossil fuels. According to the Prime Minster hydrogen holds the same business potential as the successful Danish wind turbine industry. The Prime minister therefore also promised that Denmark will aim for hydrogen parallel to bio fuels and wind turbines.
During the visit the Prime Minister was introduced to the hydrogen and fuel cell research and commercialization activities at the H2 Logic company ending with a test drive in the TH!NK hydrogen city car, with a fuel cell system from H2 Logic. The Prime Minster found the hydrogen car very pleasant and could strongly recommend it to others.
The Prime Minister ended the trip with a public acknowledgement of the activities in H2 Logic and stated that he saw the company as very potential. According to the Prime Minister he chose to visit H2 Logic because he is very interested in hydrogen and because already knew the company.
The Prime Minister also assured that the government will finalize the proposal of removing all taxes on hydrogen cars, as well as boosting the public funding for energy research and demonstration from $83 million annually to more than $166 million annually in 2010. It is hoped that this boost will enable a doubling in public annual funding for hydrogen and fuel cells from $18 million in 2006 to more than $33 million in 2007.
