In our sixth edition of The Market Place Matters we have contributions from over 45 organisations and partners worldwide, our biggest issue yet, and a fair reflection of the growing activity we have witnessed since the start of 2005.

Although we see this in an extremely positive light there are still considerable issues to address, not least the growth of misinformation – an area we have to unite on as an industry to counter. In some quarters there is still a clear a lack of quality information and understanding, vitally needed to lower some of the barriers raised towards successful implementation and commercialisation. Without clear, concise, fact based answers proffered by ‘the industry’ not just ‘the individual’ the Trojans at play will continue to win the day. This has become an area we are applying significant resource to tackle and welcome input and assistance from all levels of the industry – in the coming months we will be launching some new initiatives to aid in this much needed unification.

Activity within Fuel Cell Markets has continued to gather pace at an astonishing rate. Expansion and growth already this year has been significant: We have added three new members to our team since the beginning of the year and continue to look for like minded individuals. In April we opened offices in Heidelberg, Germany and in May we open representative offices in Bahrain and Hong Kong, evidence of the needs of this technology around the globe.

In this issue we welcome new clients, partners and members. Please take the time to look at their new subsites, products and services. We are especially pleased with our developments in the Middle East. Fuel Cell Markets has formed a joint venture partnership with The Middle East Forum on Fuel Cells and Hydrogen (MEFH) and will be organising a conference in December in Dubai in an effort to promote, coordinate and facilitate H2FC activities within the region.

As usual Fuel Cell Markets has also been very active in attending conferences, meetings and events, most recently at the hugely successful ‘Arno A. Evers Group Exhibit Hydrogen & Fuel Cells’ at the Hanover Fair 05. We have formed many new and exciting partnerships with organisers and have much to announce. FCM will be taking the largest pavilion stand at FC EXPO 2006 in Japan in association with the World Fuel Cell Council and Fuel Cell Europe and invite members of all three organisations to participate. Over the coming weeks in the UK we have two events that deserve mention: The Clean Energy Technology and Investment Show that starts this week in London and The Climate Change Solutions Conference (CCS) at the NEC in Birmingham at the end of the month. FCM in partnership with CCS and the University of Birmingham have put together an agenda that will make it one of the most encompassing events for Residential and Stationary fuel cells assembled in the UK.

Last but by no means least, is the launch of a new publication “The Fuel Cell Circle” (FCC). The first issue is to be released in the second week of May and will be electronically distributed to all FCM marketplace participants. This long awaited ‘HOT OPPORTUNITY’ publication will serve as a conduit to enable FCM to communicate a wealth of industry opportunities to its privileged recipients. Covering everything from funding and finance prospects to routes to market and ‘shopping lists’ for demonstration opportunities. We anticipate it to be a very valuable industry resource.

We hope you enjoy this issue and remain faithfully yours,

The FCM Team
