Welcome to the 9th Issue of The Marketplace Matters – the industry mailing from Fuel Cell Markets that allows readers and contributors alike to help drive our collective commercialisation efforts forward.

In this issue we would like to remind all our subscribers of the forthcoming FC & H2 event “Opportunities and Challenges in the Middle East” to be held at the Dubai Police Academy from the 6-7th December. The event, an initiative of Middle East Forum on Fuel Cells & Hydrogen Economy (MEFH) - a strong market partner in the region - has been co-organised by Fuel Cell Markets in conjunction with the esteemed Al Zayed Prize for the Environment, and further endorsed by the World Fuel Cell Council. Preparations for this ‘first of its kind’ annual event have been unprecedented with collaboration even exceeding FCM’s high expectations. With international support and contributions from Ballard Power Systems, General Motors, Fuel Cell Energy, Hydrogenics, UTC Power, Plug Power, P21, MTU and Heliocentris, to name just a few, it promises to be a landmark event. With strong local support, it is a ‘must attend’ date for those companies wanting to develop business within this very lucrative region. To get involved, register, and find out more about this conference see the contribution from MEFH below.

The last couple of months have seen significant activity and we are encouraged by the pace of progress the industry is making in all sectors. Within Fuel Cell Markets we have confirmed a number of important new partnerships, including Acta, Alternative Energy Development Corporation, The Centre for Process Innovation, Mesoscopic Devices and UTC Power.

Fuel Cell Markets are also excited to have initiated a special working relationship with a new company to the industry: Fuel Cell Recruitment. This full service recruitment consultancy has been created to provide a specialist focus on the hydrogen and fuel cell sector, and works exclusively with high calibre individuals needed by employers in these industries. Human Resources are crucial to effective expansion and commercialisation of these industries and it is an encouraging sign of progress that such an organisation now exists. Fuel Cell Markets looks forward to incubating, supporting and promoting Fuel Cell Recruitment's mission to save time and money for the industry by efficiently placing the best candidates in the most suitable roles.

On a last note from FCM (prior to contributions below), we would like to remind you all about the upcoming FC Expo in Japan in January 25th-27th 2006. The event is now a sold out event for exhibitors, and Fuel Cell Markets & Partners are proud to have the largest pavilion stand at an event which in itself promises to be the biggest event the industry has yet to see. In addition to the 400 exhibitors present, key ‘not to be missed’ announcements will be made at the event so if you have not booked yet please do so using the links below.

Please read the contributions below from Fuel Cell Markets’ Market Partners, offering cutting-edge opportunities, and a wealth of information.

Kind regards as always
