An assembly of components into a subsystem. MEAs comprise of a Polymer Electrolyte Membrane, coated on either side with catalyst and binder layers and then sandwiched between two conductive layers constructed of a micro-porous material that acts as both a Gas Diffusion Layer and a current collector. MEAs are typically then surrounded by bipolar plates to comprise a fuel cell.
