A team of highly skilled scientists and engineers from major aerospace corporations founded ITN Energy Systems, Inc. in 1995 to bring aerospace know-how to the commercial marketplace with a mission to identify, develop and commercialise emerging technologies for Defense and Commercial markets by establishing successful joint ventures or licensing arrangements. We conduct Research and product development in the areas of space, energy and Environment related technologies. ITN's Advanced Photovoltaics research provides PV panels for space-bound applications. Providing efficient and lightweight power for satellites and other spacecraft, ITN's solar materials have the best value and durability to be found. ITN has used its expertise in thin film technology to create a unique battery that has numerous advantages over other rechargeable batteries and has been introduced into commercial markets. Ceramic membranes for gas separation and for reactors is an area of growing scientific and commercial interest. The keys to a successful membrane process are high throughput with high selectivity. Long-term membrane stability and low manufacturing costs are requirements for successful commercial implementation of membranes. ITN is applying its core expertise in the manufacturing of complex, multilayer thin film devices to novel membrane separation units and reactors to solve problems within the chemicals, fuels and environmental industries. ITN Energy Systems is developing a planar Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) for portable, residential and commercial electric power markets.
