The German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV) promotes and prepares the general introduction of hydrogen as an energy carrier in the economy. It supports research and development to contribute to a solution of the future energy problems and the protection of the foundations of our existence.
Background:
Fossil fuels can not be the basis of the future energy supply. Local environmental damage, the CO2 enhancement in the atmosphere, and the limited supplies in contrast to the increase of the world population and its energy consumption enforce the transition to an energy supply system which is compatible with the environment.
An energy carrier which can be stored and transported will be necessary in future as well. Hydrogen is optimal for this purpose. It has a high energy density in the liquid phase, can be transported as liquid or gas, is not toxic and generated in principle no other emission than water when used for technical energy production. Hydrogen is therefore the optimal link between a future zero-emission energy production and our energy demand.
How we work:
The German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association promotes the introduction of hydrogen as energy carrier, primarily in the energy and transportation sector. It brings experts, companies, research institutes and so on together to let them exchange their experience, contributes to the dissemination of the results and promotes the public interest for the matter. It is therefore a "lobby" for the energy carrier of the future.
DWV identifies research and development problems in the field of safety or economy and creates project proposals, makes its influence felt in standardization and regulation and works together with other associations and institutions all over the world who work along similar lines.
