 | Overview | Our advanced materials business area is centered around the development of products such as test wafers, and highly-functional materials for information and media equipment. Unitika has developed several original functional materials in the past, including fully aromatic polyimides (ultra-heat resistant polymers), amorphous carbon materials, and amorphous metal fibers. We are currently working on materials such as bipolar plates for fuel cells (the subject of public- and private-sector research as a possible next-generation clean energy source) and polyimide foams (expected to have aerospace applications). Separators made of special phenol resin can be injection-molded, which are highly suited for mass-production, and are receiving a lot of attention. |
