Pumps are mechanical devices that cause fluids to flow, move or change pressure by the use of pressure in a natural or artificial channel.

Pumps are commonly used in hydrogen and fuel cell related technologies, as part of the balance of plant. Fuel cells themselves do not have moving parts like an engine and so rely on pumps and compressors to supply fluids at the correct pressures to the correct places at the correct rates.
