Devices designed to transfer heat from one substance to another without mixing the two substances. Radiators and cooling systems are common examples. In fuel cells, heat exchangers are used to manage the temperature of the fuel cell interior. Heat exchangers are especially important in cogeneration devices where the heat is not wasted but is channelled and used. Heat exchangers are an integral part of nearly all reformers too.
