2008 NHA Renewable Hydrogen Forum

Electrolysis is the process by which water is split into hydrogen and oxygen.

In an electrolyser, water - H20 - is split into its component parts - hydrogen and oxygen. Electricity is required to drive this process, and if this electricity is derived from Renewable Energy sources such as solar energy or wind power the resulting hydrogen can then be referred to as ‘renewable hydrogen’.

After generating the hydrogen, it then needs to be stored.
