An increasing number of European regions and communities are currently looking into hydrogen as a future option for their transport and energy needs. But what are the prerequisites and how can you ensure a successful project for your own community?
The EU-funded project Roads2HyCom is trying to address these issues. It assesses and monitors Hydrogen and Fuel Cell technologies, and supports the European Commission, the communities and other stakeholders in planning future research activities. By this it is creating an up-to-day overview of available technologies, hydrogen infrastructures, and pathways to sustainable community projects.
For this activity it is co-operating with the newly established HyRaMP initiative. HyRaMP is the European Regions and Municipalities Partnership on Hydrogen & Fuel Cells. Founded in April this year it is the new voice of the regions in Europe engaging in hydrogen and fuel cells.
This second Regional Development Workshop therefore even clearer aims at region and community project developers who would like to gain deeper insight into success factors of hydrogen demonstration projects and their value in local development. It offers presentations on financing mechanisms, lessons learned from past projects and the practical considerations to be made when setting up a demonstration project. It will introduce the 2nd volume of the ‘Roads2HyCom Communities Handbook’ the project is preparing as a resource for planners and decision makers. Case studies will present hands-on results from successful regional hydrogen projects, also offering space to exchange your experiences, views and visions with other regions and project representatives.
