"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed. It is the only thing that ever has."
– Margaret Mead
Operational
Toddington Harper - Chairman & Founder
Having been born into a family whose father ran the first Solar Energy business in the Middle East, it would be fair to say that Toddington has renewable energy in his blood.
In the last 10 years Toddington has played a much more active role, co-founding Fuel Cell Markets Ltd in 2002 with the objectives of providing an advanced communications platform designed to assist with the commercialisation of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies worldwide across all relevant applications.
The idea behind Fuel Cell Markets Ltd was conceived during and after his thesis on the subject at UMIST University / Manchester School of Management where he achieved a 2:1 honours degree. With the understanding that technology alone does not determine market leaders from failures but rather the way these technologies are brought to market and the strategic relationships that make this possible, Toddington realised that the development of a global communications platform with access to relevant companies, products, press releases, and business opportunities could be instrumental in advancing progress for these emerging industries.
As well as having a deep understanding of a range of renewable energy and energy conversion technologies, Toddington has demonstrated his abilities as a motivational speaker at numerous events worldwide, to governments, businesses and the man on the street.
Toddington is committed to helping the world move forward by assisting with the introduction and proliferation of more efficient, sustainable, and environmentally friendly power sources and technologies.
Duncan Bott - Managing Director
Duncan joined the “Fuel Cell Markets” team in April 2003, initially focussing on the acquisition of the early stage clients and building a firm membership base. From September 2003 onwards, Duncan concentrated on the Business Development department, with the goal of focusing on the business requirements of the clients and assisting with the stream-lining of the web site to achieve this. In the last year Duncan has predominantly focused his activities on the 'off line' requirements of the marketplace partners, assisting with establishing partnerships between our clients and target corporations in their commercialisation and routes to market.
Coming from an expatriate family, he was born in Africa, Duncan has travelled extensively but was primarily educated in the UK, where he obtained a BSc (Hons) Degree in Biology. Duncan has over 7 years in the Fuel Cell and hydrogen sector, presenting many papers on fuel cell technologies and deployment / commercialisation strategies at a number of International workshops, conferances and exhibitions. Previously Duncan worked in SME's assisting with their growth and expansion.
Personal Statement: My aim is to look back on a blossoming Low Carbon economy, knowing that we, through "Fuel Cell Markets", played a significant role in its accelerated development, while having helped mitigate the effects of global warming.
James Wortley - Director
Bsc Honours Degree in Atmospheric Science from the University of Leeds, including a Thesis on the viability of integrating Hydrogen Fuel Cells into the US motor Industry. During my studies I also explored my passion for cooking and gained valuable experience in high pressure environments, people management and ensuring a high product standard.
Personal Statement: I strongly believe that there is a desperate need to respect the world we live in, we must invest in alternative energy resources that cause minimal harm to the environment and be more energy efficient. We are an integral part of the biological and chemical system we live in and we must accept the part we play or we may ruin our environment for thousands of years. The specialist knowledge from my degree gives me an understanding of how the system works and it is through this understanding that I have realised that my passion lies in doing my part to improve the situation we are in.
