Case studies
Speed Enunciator Sign
This system has been running for over two years on the Wilton site giving excellent information on long-term performance. It consists of a hydrogen powered fuel cell with an electrical system powering an LED variable message traffic sign.
Mobile Variable Message Sign System
The Low Carbon Energy Team has teamed up with Varitext Limited to produce a fuel cell powered variable messaging road sign. CPI has developed a 300W fuel cell stack system, fed by six hydrogen cylinders within the trailer itself. The power requirements of such as sign are higher than those conventional display signs and are suited to a small fuel cell system.
Chapel of Remembrance Lighting at Acklam Crematorium
A fuel cell powers the lighting at the crematorium’s Visitor Centre. This demonstrates clearly that fuel cells can work efficiently and reliably within the community. This system uses hydrogen cylinders, a 5kW fuel cell and has an electrical system linked to the lighting system of the Chapel of Remembrance.
Tees Estuary Lighthouse
CPI has produced a fuel cell system to power the Tees Estuary lighthouse to demonstrate how fuel cells can support critical applications. The system consists of a hydrogen powered fuel cell/lead acid battery system, linked to the lighthouse light. |
