Brand New State of the Art Test and Development Centre for PEM, DMFC and SOFC Developers

Fuel Cell Application Facility Development Centre

The Fuel Cell Application Facility (FCAF) is the CPI platform that supports the practical application of fuel cells and new energy technologies.

Capabilities

The Development Centre of the FCAF, together with its support team can offer consultancy and the following technical capabilities to product and project developers, OEM systems integrators and manufacturers, as well as insurers and investors:

  • Advanced fuel cell test stations allow fuel cell diagnostic testing and experimentation from small cells up to 15kWe. Dynamic load testing of PEM, DMFC and SOFC, coupled with full data logging.
  • Complete range of fuels, including: hydrogen (both bottled and electrolyser), methane, ethane, methanol and isopropanol.
  • Complete balance of plant toolkit for system components and prototyping of fuel cell systems, including a full suite of gas flow controllers and meters.
  • Equipment calibrated against industry recognised standards as required.
  • Potentiostat with impedance spectroscopy capability.
  • Chemiluminescence spectroscopy capability allowing the analysis, identification and quantification of sulphur species present in fuels, in addition to characterisation of absorber performance in desulphuriser technologies.
  • MEA diagnostic testing services (via partner organisations).
  • Independent and confidential fuel cell evaluation.
  • Confidential development facilities, including private office space for fuel cell companies and their staff to develop new and embryonic systems.
  • Technical support services.
  • Fuel cell component & peripherals evaluation (with partner organisations).
  • Full system evaluation area for complete system integration testing and evaluation.
  • Stationary and transport fuel cell testing facility (with partner organisations).
  • LABVIEW capability for fuel cell testing and control.
  • CHEMCAD capability for the design and simulation of complete fuel cell systems.
  • Hydrogen filling station infrastructure giving capability in refuelling a wide range of applications from vehicles to 35 & 70MPa composite tanks or metal hydride storage vessels.

Working with the CPI

We are looking for AFC, PEM, DMFC and SOFC developers (worldwide) who are looking to test and develop their technologies. We are also looking for potential suppliers to the Fuel Cell industry that require independent assessment of their products. We are keen to work with companies that are considering the use of fuel cells in their products and who wish to assess the feasibility of the technology in their applications. Please respond directly to this article to learn more about how CPI can assist you with getting the most out of your technology.
