Dr. Karl-Gerhard Seifert is CEO and Chairman of the board of management of Allessachemie GmbH (“Allessa”). Allessa is a private company and was formed through an acquisition of parts of Hoechst AG and successor company Clariant GmbH following the de-merger of Hoechst. Allessa is headquartered in Frankfurt, Germany and is a manufacturer of a wide range of chemical products serving different industries.
Prior to Allessa, Dr. Karl-Gerhard Seifert served as a member of the Board of Management of Hoechst AG from 1988 until 1997 where he was responsible for specialty chemicals, agriculture and pharmaceuticals/diagnostics. Dr. Seifert also was CEO of Clariant International AG from 1997-1999. In addition, he was the former head of Morgan Grenfell Private Equity Ltd, Germany.
Dr. Seifert combines a distinguished track record in international senior management in the chemical industry and an excellent knowledge of global finance and investment environment.
Dr. Seifert is a German national and received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Goettingen, Germany and started his career at the IBM laboratories at San Jose, California in 1972. Other positions held by Dr. Seifert include directorships with Hewlett Packard, Germany, member of advisory board of Deutsche Bank AG, and member of board of directors of Athenix Inc., a venture capital sponsored leading industrial biotechnology company developing resources for the petrochemical, energy and agricultural industries using genetic traits from microbes. He serves as the chairman of the supervisory board of Jerini AG, a pharmaceutical company based in Berlin, Germany. |
