Looking to Manufacture Heat Exchanger Plates

Cell Impact offers production of thin components with surfaces containing a fine pattern or flow field. Typical components are bipolar plates for fuel cells and heat exchanger plates. The production takes advantage of a unique production method that allows rapid high precision forming.

It is no longer necessary to sacrifice a high performance flow field design to meet manufacturing limitations. Cell Impact can produce plates thinner with a finer pattern at a lower cost compared to methods like machining or moulding. We are looking to partner with heat exchanger plate developers to provide low cost, high volume manufacturing.

  • Fine patterns with close tolerances - The pattern in the plate surface is an exact match to the pattern in the forming tool. The impact process ensures that there are no spring back or bulging effects from the forming.
  • Wide range of material selection - Cell Impact offers flow plates in almost any material, including stainless steel, graphite and titanium.
  • High production rate - The impact process is fast -a flow field is formed in a fraction of a second. With fully automated material handling, a production rate of 1 plate per second per machine is achieved.
  • Pre-coating – Cell Impact has a partnership with a leading metal engineering company who can provide pre-coated stainless steel. Using the Cell Impact Method plates can be formed and cut after they are coated, saving you time and money.
  • High Volume – At high volume production (> 40,000 per year) Cell Impact offers considerable reduction in production costs.
  • Material thickness - We offer high performance stainless steel bipolar plates manufactured from a basic material with a thickness from 0.05 mm up to 2 mm.
  • Tolerance - We are able to work with a tolerance of +/- 0.01 mm on our plates (might vary depending on material and pattern).
  • Zero fault tolerance - Due to our in-house developed laser-based scanning system, which is integrated into our production line, we are able to quality-check every single plate. This means that we have zero fault tolerance in our production.
  • Materials - We manufacture custom plates in most kinds of stainless steel and coatings depending on customer specifications.

Pattern Examples

Our cutting edge method allows us to orient the flow field in any direction on the surface of the plate and have any shape – single or double sided or with different patterns on each side. The following figures are examples and might vary depending on material thickness and pattern.
