Surface Modified Carbon |
|
Today, most PEM fuel cell electro-catalysts are dispersed platinum nano-particles supported on a carbon particle such as the industry standard, Cabot Vulcan XC-72. Whilst Cabot Corporation offers a wide range of standard carbon powder products, of particular interest to the fuel cell industry are Cabot Corporation's electrocatalysts incorporating Cabot’s proprietary surface-modified carbon support materials.
Cabot has developed a proprietary process for surface modifying the carbon whereby organic groups can be attached to the surface of carbon black particles. This surface attachment alters the chemical or physical properties of the carbon powder in order to improve their performance in specific fuel cell applications.
Cabot surface-modified carbon products can provide genuine and easily-achieved competitive advantage to fuel cell systems.
Cabot Advanced Fuel Cell Development
Cabot Fuel Cells has a range of next-generation fuel cell electrocatalysts and other materials for PEM and DMFC systems under development. These electrocatalysts, as well as other key products and capabilities, are selectively available to leading customers under special arrangement. Cabot works intimately with a limited number of customers to assist them in developing genuine competitive advantage through access to the latest advances in DMFC and PEM materials and component technologies.
