Cabot Fuel Cells group is focused on producing electrocatalysts for use in Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems. Our resources include a team of dedicated materials science engineers and chemists who work globally to develop innovative materials and technical solutions for both existing and emerging markets.
By leveraging our core competencies, Cabot Fuel Cells group has created Dynalyst™ electocatalysts, an advanced line of Platinum catalysts for use in PEM fuel cell systems.
Cabot develops and manufactures advanced fuel cell electrocatalysts for PEM and DMFC fuel cells. Our Fuel Cell business combines the strengths of the Cabot Superior Micropowders proprietary spray conversion manufacturing technology with Cabot’s competency in carbon black and surface modified carbons. The electrocatalysts developed by our Fuel Cell business deliver performance superior to materials produced with traditional multi-step wet impregnation technology. The improvements include lower precious metal loadings, higher activity and greater durability.
With the majority of electrocatalysts being produced from high cost precious metals in complex, multi-step liquid precipitation and impregnation methods. Cabot’s Fuel Cell electrocatalysts are discovered, improved and manufactured on our unique spray conversion manufacturing platform. Unlike other processes, Cabot’s spray conversion manufacturing technology produces electrocatalysts in only one or two steps with a very high degree of repeatability at small and large scale.
Cabot’s fuel cell electrocatalysts include Platinum-on-Carbon catalysts, Platinum-on-Modified Carbon and Ternary Alloy catalysts on both standard and modified carbons.
Cabot’s Fuel Cell business has also developed complementary technology to achieve the precise, accurate and efficient printing of our electro-catalysts while also retaining their high performance properties. |
