Cabot Fuel Cells Subsite Homepage

Cabot's Fuel Cell Group supplies performance electrocatalyst materials primarily to the electronics, consumer and industrial markets for micro and small portable fuel cell systems. Our standard Dynalyst electrocatalyst products include supported platinum-on-carbon electrocatalysts and alloys of platinum supported on carbon electrocatalysts.

Our fuel cell electrocatalysts are manufactured with our proprietary Reactive Spray Technology platform, which enables unique morphology and surface properties. They also incorporate carbon support particles that are designed with properties specifically tailored for the application, leveraging Cabot's portfolio of carbon particle technologies.

Cabot's fuel cell electrocatalysts are chosen by developers of portable, automotive and other types of fuel cells. Fuel cell manufacturers and component suppliers print our electrocatalysts onto polymer membranes, forming an electrode assembly that is the fundamental building block of a fuel cell system and its highest-value component, analogous to the microprocessor in a personal computer.

Cabot's fuel cell electrocatalysts are suitable for:

While most fuel cell products are still in the prototype phase of development, some products are already in the market. Thousands of portable methanol-fuelled fuel cell generators are in use by consumers in Europe and hydrogen-fuelled backup power generators are penetrating the telecommunications market. Several major consumer electronics companies have impressive prototype fuel cell-powered cellular phones and entertainment devices.
