PEM Fuel Cell Testing and Educational Equipment Packages for Universities and Research Institutes

We are looking for universities and R&D institutes who are seeking equipment for PEM fuel cell teaching, testing and development.

Please see below for full list of our current products. We are soon to be launching a new complete testing package with our Clearpak single cell testing kit.

The kit will contain:

  • ClearPak cell with one suitable MEA (loading 0.3mg/cm² Pt @anode, 0.6mg/cm² Pt @cathode, Nafion 211 + subgaskets)
  • Air supply system – air pump, adjustable flowmeter, power supply
  • Hydrogen supply – H2 metal hydride tank (10NL capacity, roughly 3 to 4 hours of operation), electronic purge valve with control timer (purge duration and purges interval)
  • An electronic load bank (2V and 20A max, 0.1V mini) with 2 control modes (constant current or constant voltage), display of current and voltage
  • Gas tubing, electrical cables

All components are packaged separately in quality and robust aluminium boxes.

Possible experimentations include:

  • Study of air stoichiometry effect on polarization curve
  • Study of H2 purge timing effect on voltage
  • Study of air flow and H2 purges on water production/balance, effects of drying/flooding membrane and electrodes
  • Study of liquid water behaviour in gas channels depending on various gas flow parameters
  • Study of water management and cell performances with different gas flowfields
  • Study of various cell start-up procedures regarding water balance

Products

Cell Compression Unit (CCU) and Quickcell Fixture
The CCU is a unique tool to accurately control the compression force applied on the MEA sample inside a single cell. Cell temperature and compression force control are fully integrated in a single device. The CCU gives perfectly reproductible in situ test conditions: - to determine the optimal compression force where peak power density is obtained, - to reliably compare results obtained from different samples.

PEM221 300W PEM fuel cell test station
The PEM221 fuel cell test station is designed to meet the needs of both industrial development activities and university research. Developed to meet a small footprint requirement, the PEM 221 occupies only 24" x 24" of benchtop space. It is capable for testing up to 300W PEM fuel cells.
