Laramie, Wyoming - June 9, 2003 - The Blue Sky Group Inc. (Blue Sky) announced today that it has formed a new subsidiary, Nanomaterials Discovery Corporation (NDC), as a vehicle for its nanomaterials discovery technologies. The subsidiary will use Blue Sky's proprietary combinatorial electrochemical methods to discover and refine critical materials for energy, coatings, microelectronic and display applications.
"Over the past five years Blue Sky and my research group at the University of Wyoming have jointly built an impressive portfolio of combinatorial electrochemical technologies for flat panel display materials, fuel cell catalysts, and other enabling nanostructured materials," said Professor Daniel Buttry, a principal of NDC and director of Blue Sky. "We're excited to see those years of technical work finally grow into a commercial entity."
NDC combines the power of combinatorial chemistry with the versatility of electrochemistry to discover and refine materials and methods with high economic impact. Combinatorial chemistry, widely used in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, allows researchers to perform concurrently hundreds to thousands of chemical experiments. This " high throughput" technique is useful when searching for new chemical formulations for drugs, catalysts, and nanostructured materials.
