February 9, 2004 (Laramie, Wyoming) - Nanomaterials Discovery Corp. (NDC) announced today that it has named Don Montgomery, Ph.D., as President and Chief Executive Officer.
"Don is a critical piece of the puzzle for NDC," said John M. Pope, Ph.D., Chairman of the company. "His unique technical and business experience makes him the ideal person to build NDC into a leadership position in the emerging nanotechnology field."
Dr. Montgomery previously served as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President for Acacia Research - CombiMatrix (NASDQ:CBMX). Dr. Montgomery founded the original CombiMatrix Corporation in 1996 and was instrumental in building it into a leading biochip company. CombiMatrix uses its platform technology to rapidly produce customizable active biochips that can be used in identifying and determining the roles of genes, gene mutations and proteins. NDC has an exclusive license to use CombiMatrix's platform technology for materials discovery.
"NDC technology can accelerate the pace of discovery of new nanostructured materials by a factor of over a thousand when compared to conventional technologies," commented Dr. Montgomery, "NDC's strong intellectual property position allows the company focus on high throughput screening and informatics for developing commercially useful nanostructured materials. Our partners will have access to the largest and most effective library of nanostructured materials available."
